About the Company

Mushakara is a financial technology platform offering expert insights and tools for investors to manage their portfolios effectively. Known for its comprehensive resources, Mushakara aims to empower users with the knowledge and tools to make informed investment decisions.

Problem

Despite its robust financial resources, Mushakara faced key challenges:
  1. Low User Engagement: The platform’s cluttered interface and overwhelming content discouraged users from interacting with its tools.
  2. Complex Navigation: Convoluted menus and hidden functionalities created frustration and limited tool adoption.
  3. Onboarding Issues: The signup process, which redirected users to a new tab without clarity, created confusion and reduced registrations.
  4. Lack of Personalization: The platform offered generic features that didn’t cater to individual preferences or risk tolerances, leading to disengaged users.

Solution

To address these issues, I implemented a series of strategic design improvements:
  1. Content Prioritization: Restructured the information architecture to highlight the most relevant data and insights, tailored to user needs and goals.
  2. Simplified Interface: Redesigned the platform with a clean, intuitive layout featuring clear navigation, easily accessible tools, and visually engaging dashboards.
  3. Streamlined Onboarding: Revamped the signup process with:
    • Clear branding and platform logos to orient users when redirected to new tabs.
    • Reduced form fields and alternative verification methods to simplify registration.
  4. Personalized Recommendations: Introduced AI-powered algorithms to deliver tailored investment suggestions and portfolio strategies based on user profiles and risk preferences.

Something Learned

This project emphasized the importance of aligning user needs with business goals. Key takeaways include:
  1. User-Centric Design: Simplifying navigation and personalizing features significantly improves user engagement and satisfaction.
  2. Clarity in Onboarding: A seamless onboarding experience is crucial for retaining users and building trust in SaaS platforms.
  3. Iterative Improvement: In-depth user research and iterative design processes are essential for uncovering and addressing pain points effectively.
The Mushakara redesign demonstrated the impact of thoughtful UX/UI design in transforming complex platforms into intuitive, user-friendly experiences, ultimately driving higher engagement and growth.
