About the Company

Naqwa Boutique is a Riyadh-based boutique specializing in premium sweets and desserts. The brand is known for its playful and sweet aesthetic, catering to tech-savvy millennials and young professionals with a penchant for indulgence.

Problem

Naqwa Boutique’s mobile app needed improvements in three critical areas:
  1. Coupon Screen: The existing design lacked intuitive functionality for redeeming and managing coupons.
  2. Search Screen: The basic search feature made product discovery inefficient, frustrating users.
  3. Verification Screen: The verification process was impersonal and did not reflect the brand’s playful identity, creating a disconnect with users.

Solution

The redesign focused on delivering user-friendly, visually appealing, and brand-consistent screens:
  1. Coupon Screen:
    • A minimalist design for easy coupon redemption.
    • Clear Redeem functionality with dynamic state changes (e.g., “Coupon Redeemed” with an option to remove).
    • Seamless integration with the app’s existing design language.
  2. Search Screen:
    • A powerful search bar with autocomplete suggestions.
    • Advanced filters for dietary preferences, occasions, price range, and flavor profiles.
    • A visually appealing grid for search results, showcasing high-quality product photos, concise titles, and prominent pricing.
    • Personalized recommendations based on user behavior to enhance engagement.
  3. Verification Screen:
    • A visually engaging design featuring brand-aligned playful elements.
    • Clear instructions for Instagram-shared verification codes.
    • Friendly, branded error messages to minimize user frustration.

Something Learned

This project highlighted the importance of aligning functional design with a brand's unique personality. Key takeaways include:
  • User-Centric Approach: Advanced filters and personalized recommendations dramatically improved the user experience.
  • Consistency is Key: Ensuring the screens matched the brand’s playful identity strengthened the overall user journey.
  • Iterative Process: Multiple testing cycles ensured that the final designs were not only aesthetically pleasing but also intuitive and effective.
The Naqwa Boutique redesign demonstrated how thoughtful design solutions can bridge gaps between user needs and brand identity, ultimately creating a cohesive and delightful experience.
